Sexuality is a sensitive topic today. If you are one of those readers that are sensitive when it comes to this subject, you may either skip this content or widen your views.
We are about to tackle two definitions of sexuality, one that is about immorality, prostitution, and one that is about sexual preference, like gender.
Sex refers to the biological dissimilarity of males and females. It is often confused with gender, which is also relevant to the subject. But, it doesn’t always pertain to the classification of a person but also on immoral acts that relates to it, such as adultery, infidelity, and the likes. Today’s world has been infiltrated by many sexual acts, as well as issues about the other related meanings of sexuality like gender.
The Christian church has a firm views about sexuality. It opposes the perceptions of society towards sex and gender. The former believes that there are only two genders, which is male and female. The latter, however, believes that there are other gender classifications more than man and a woman. The other recognized genders in the society today are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. Thus, the LGBTQ viewing sexuality idea is not that openly welcomed by the Catholic Church.
People’s views regarding sexuality and/or gender have been divided due to different factors, such as time, religion, conditions, and more. However, those that are firm believer of the Lord remained their gazed on what’s on the Holy Bible. A lot has changed since the beginning, but what didn’t change is the faith of the people to God and His words.
Thus, here are some of the significant bible verses from the English Standard Version that center on human sexuality:
“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” – 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
“For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.” – Romans 1:26-27
“Understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine,” – 1 Timothy 1:9-10
“A woman shall not wear a man’s garment, nor shall a man put on a woman’s cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God” – Deuteronomy 22:5
“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” – Galatians 5:19-21
“So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words, who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God; for her house sinks down to death, and her paths to the departed; none who go to her come back, nor do they regain the paths of life.” – Proverbs 2:16-19
“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”– 1 Corinthians 6:18-20
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, …” – Romans 1:18-32
“None of the daughters of Israel shall be a cult prostitute, and none of the sons of Israel shall be a cult prostitute. You shall not bring the fee of a prostitute or the wages of a dog into the house of the Lord your God in payment for any vow, for both of these are an abomination to the Lord your God.” – Deuteronomy 23:17-18
“But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” – Revelation 21:8
