The world is full of temptations — you may have heard this statement from the moment that you’ve started to learn about life. Your earliest teachers, which are your parents, may have told you the mentioned statement a couple of times. You, on the other hand, may have either implant that teaching in your mind or let that fact go into one ear and released it on the other. The thing is, people tend to brush off most of the teaching of their parents and other adults surrounding them when they are young. It is because they may have taken these values and lessons as words that don’t serve a bigger purpose other than scold them and restrain them from doing their things.
When a person’s mind, including yours, develops, a lot of realizations and even regrets will come at him or her. There will be a lot of what ifs and what could have beens if they have lived up to the teachings of their loved ones. But that will not matter now, what is important is for people to turn their backs on temptations and do their best to never be tempted again. There are many things that they could to in order to avoid getting tempted. Being reminded about God is always the first and most effective thing.
There are many ways to be reminded about the Almighty Father. A great example of it is by reading books about Him. A wide variety of Christian books exist in the market are just waiting for readers to pick them up. Some of these books are based on the bible while others are from personal experiences of the authors. Thus, among the most amazing Christian books are In the Shadow of God’s Love — a book by Leelia Cornell.
Reminding yourself that God is always the best weapon to protect yourself from evil, but it cannot be avoided that these evils will never stop coming at you. So, here are some of the best Bible verses that will remind you that temptations will never bring any good to you.
James 1: 13-18
“When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.”
Luke 11:14
“ And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.”
Galatians 5:16
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
Ephesians 6:10-18
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
John 2:15-17
“And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise. And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.”
Psalm 46:5
“God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.”
